One-Year Anniversary of RCSB PDB Grant Award

One year has passed since the Research Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics (RCSB) was awarded the grant to manage the Protein Data Bank (PDB). We are pleased to report that our initial goals have been met, and in many cases surpassed, with the help and support of the PDB community.

Of special note is the fact that this date was originally intended to mark the end of the transition period — a date that actually occurred on July 1, 1999 — when the RCSB assumed the full responsibility for all PDB activities.

In addition to maintaining the PDB distribution activities, the PDB introduced new tools for deposition and query, including ADIT (AutoDep Input Tool), which has proven to be a very useful tool for both data deposition and annotation. Structures deposited using ADIT are fully processed to completion in an average of nine days.

SearchLite and SearchFields, which provide simple and advanced searching of the PDB. Search results are examined using the Structure Explorer and the Query Result interfaces.

In the coming year, we will continue to improve and develop these resources. We look forward to continuing to collaborate and communicate with our users.

As always, your questions and comments are welcome at info@rcsb.org.
