Meet the RCSB PDB at these summer meetings:

• 29th International Carbohydrate Symposium (July 14-19, Lisbon, Portugal). RCSB PDB Biocuration Team Lead Jasmine Young will discuss Enabling Glycoscience Research with Improved Data Representation of Carbohydrates in the Protein Data Bank

• Donate to the wwPDB Foundation at the RCSB PDB exhibit booth and receive a special hemoglobin pin
• Director Stephen Burley will present Ligand Validation for the Protein Data Bank

Recent meetings have included

• 26th Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) (Chicago, IL) which included a Special Session organized by RCSB PDB on Single-particle Cryo-electron Microscopy, Cryo-electron Tomography, and Integrative/Hybrid Methods Studies of Macromolecular Machines: Opportunities and Challenges for the Bioinformatics Community. This session highlighted the exciting work going in these two frontier areas of structural biology with reference to the manifold challenges and opportunities for the bioinformatics community with presentations from Yuan He (Northwestern University), Wei Dai (Rutgers), Barak Raveh (UCSF), and Alexander Rose (UCSD).
• Rutgers Day (Piscataway, NJ) was a full day of discovery and lively activities that showcased the varied resources, departments, and people at the university. RCSB PDB members helped visitors explore biology at the molecular level by building virus and DNA models with candy.
• Intern Priscilla Marie Salcedo described her work on  Correlating Enzymes in Antimicrobial Resistance in the PDB at the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) meeting held during Experimental Biology 2018 (San Diego, CA).  Other activities included the Science Outreach Activity Poster Session and a poster on how RCSB PDB is Sustaining A Living Digital Data Resource That Enables Breakthroughs in Scientific Research and Biomedical Education.
